Lunch With A View: Thai Dining at Chaophraya, Newcastle

January is upon us and alas, there has never been  more splendid time to try new things! Recently, I went to Chaophraya to try out their delightful Thai cuisine and enjoy the totally tranquil ambiance and the views which surround the restaurant. Located in the higher levels of Eldon Square, the views across Newcastle (as you'll have seen in my first photograph) are amazing and you can really appreciate the city-scape from the heights. We opted for their lunch menu which has SO much to choose from. There was a vast array of different drinks, starters, mains and of course (very importantly) desserts! (You have to get a dessert when you go out for lunch, it is a must!)

We began our lunch with a couple of starters: We went for the Vegetable Spring Rolls and Sweetcorn Cakes which both come with a sweet chilli dipping sauce which is a spicy little treat!

They were so light and crispy, very 'more-ish' indeed!

All three of us absolutely love spicy food so we all instinctively opted for the Thai Green Curry vegetarian-style. With coconut milk and fresh vegetables, served up with traditional sticky rice (wonderful!), it was really tasty and exactly what you'd want from a Thai green curry. (If you can't handle the heat, ask for it to be made mild).

The Thai Green Curry is made with coconut milk, courgettes, carrots and beans garnished with sweet basil and chillies. It is also 100% Vegan so it is perfect for Veganuary!

For dessert we all opted for the Sticky Toffee Pudding with a secret twist. To transport this classic to Thailand, it has the fragrant addition of lemongrass added to it which is light and aromatic. Very delightful! It was served up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which went so well! It's one of my favourite desserts! We also got a trio of ice creams to accompany it so that we could have a little bit extra! We tried the Salted Caramel ice cream which was delicious! It complimented the dessert perfectly!

Chaophraya have January offers on so you can try out their cuisine for less. You can check out their offers online here.

The dining set-up. Sleek and sophisticated, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy authentic food.

If you're looking for somewhere new to try out, then Chaophraya is a great place with a wonderful ambiance and really friendly staff too. Have you been to Chaophraya before? What would you try if you went? Let me know! Bilgi    x
