If you're coupled up, it's a day to show then how much you care and ladies if you're single, don't worry as 'Galentine's Day' is an event now too don't you know! I've collaborated with the oh so fab Burleighs Gin to bring you a cocktail feature that is everything you could dream of and more for Valentines Day. Mixed using their truly delicious Marilyn Monroe Pink Gin, this pinky hued tipple is the fruity, zingy, light and refreshing drink that you can mix up for you and your other half or all the girls this weekend! So prepare yourself to be wowed by a drink that may well become your absolute favourite. No doubt anyone who you make it for will be asking for the recipe too! Read on for full details!...

A Bit About Burleighs Gin
Burleighs Gin are an artisan gin brand that have quality at their very heart. Their core collection of gins have a wonderful variety of botanicals used in them. Their recipe comes alive with silver birch, dandelion, burdock and elderberry. Gin has always been a classic spirit but over the last few years it's apparent that gin especially has taken the drinks market by storm and Burleighs range is special in the fact that it caters to every gin lover out there, from the traditionalist to the new wave of gin-thusiasts that like the experimental, funky and 'twist on a classic' versions.

Similarly, Burleighs create gins with a backstory and personality to them. This isn't just about a drink, it's about what makes a great spirit and they have cleverly used famous icons, sports teams and historical figures to highlight the nature, presence and personality of some of their collaborative gins. I have actually used their Marilyn Monroe Gin to mix up this cocktail for you, but before we get to the recipe, I want to tell you more about their innovative extended gin range.

Their Marilyn Monroe Pink Gin is expertly flavoured with delicate Japanese cherry blossom, hibiscus, rose and pink grapefruit. It is a really unique and characterful gin, not only because it has a delicious sweet, floral quality (much like the icon herself. Marilyn Monroe was a style icon like no other with so many facets to her glittering personality and this gin really does reflect her fun, sweet and sophisticated nature), but also the bottle is a matte pink shade with iconic images of Marilyn emblazoned on it, along with the American flag. This is truly both style and substance. You can shop Burleighs Marilyn Monroe gin on their website here.

"Distilled in our beautiful copper pot still, the careful sourcing of ingredients and the great skill of the distiller combine to create a smooth and elegant finish. With Zesty, floral to the fore our pink gin delivers a well balanced palate of sweet hibiscus, cherry blossom and intense pink grapefruit zest.  The long and smooth finish results in an elegant gin perfect for mixing." - Burleighs Gin

The Iconic Pink Marilyn Monroe Gin and Tonic Cocktail with Burleighs Gin
~ What You'll Need ~
1 x gin glass
ice cubes (I've made heart shaped ice! Very fitting for the occasion!)
A few raspberries
A few blueberries
mint leaves
White sugar for the edge of the glass
Indian tonic water or a flavoured tonic / cranberry juice if you prefer

~ Recipe // How To Mix ~
1. Start by adding the sugar to the edge of the glass.

2. Now add in the ice, blueberries and raspberries, along with some of the mint leaves.

3. Add in the shot of Burleighs Marilyn Monroe Gin. It's a beautiful delicate pink colour that I just love!

4. Top up with a tonic of your choice. A Indian tonic water will allow the true flavours of the gin to really take centre stage and a juice like cranberry will add to the sweetness. I've gone for cranberry as I love sweet cocktails with a bit of zing to balance them out nicely.

5. Add a few more mint leaves for a fresh aroma and serve up! Cheers to a wonderful, classy tipple!

The perfect drink for Valentine's

I hope you liked this fruity delight made using Burleighs pink Marilyn Monroe Gin. It's a lovely drink and honestly, perfect for Valentine's Day too. Let me know if you try this recipe out this February 14th! Wishing you all a wonderful, love-filled Valentine's Day! Bilgi   x
