The Cupid Cocktail with Poetic License Distillery

Love is in the air with Valentine's Day so soon and today seemed the perfect time to share with you yet another beautiful cocktail creation that you can share with your other half. Today, I am using the artisan gins from the Poetic License Distillery. This fruity drink would work splendidly with either of these three tipples - we have Blackcurrant & Ginger Gin Liqueur, Sarsaparilla Gin Liqueur and Juniper, Strawberry & Cream Gin to select from (and what a selection it is!). I'll tell you a bit about the flavour and tasting notes of each and also show you a cocktail recipe that works a treat too!

Strawberry & Cream Gin
It is a beautifully sweet gin, creamy in texture and in taste, with a strong fruity nose as well as more typical gin notes of juniper, coriander and orris root. For added strawberries and creaminess, we distilled as well as infused with the botanicals which also give its deep red colour that tints to a blushing pink when mixed with tonic. (Also the bottle is a lovely shade of pink, so it would be a great gift!)

Sarsaparilla Gin Liqueur
All sensory evidence throws back to the much loved soda-pop from years gone by. This grown-up version takes the unique flavour of sarsaparilla root coupled with a slight note of aniseed as well as sweetness from liquorice root and vanilla, to produce the unmistakable flavour which works surprisingly well with the spicy Old Tom Gin. You can check it out online here.

Blackcurrant and Ginger Gin Liqueur
The sweet berry flavour from the blackcurrants coupled with the fresh juniper and spice from Old Tom Gin are brought together with ginger to create a warming, fruity drink with lingering spiced berry flavours.

This is the drink I've used to mix up this wonderful cocktail and the recipe is as follows:-

2 x shots of Poetic License Distillery's Blackcurrant and Ginger Gin Liqueur
a slice of fresh orange
a few sprigs of mint
1 large strawberry sliced
Pomegranate juice to mix
plenty of ice

1. Add the ice and mint and fruit to the glass. Add the 2 shots of liqueur.

2. Add the pomegranate juice and stir to combine the ingredients.

3. And your masterpiece is ready to serve! Give this one to your loved one and now go make yourself one too!

What is your favourite Valentine's Day tipple and which of these three gins and liqueurs do you most like the sound of? Let me know! Bilgi   x
